Aqua
We used de-ionised water, which removes the salts, minerals & impurities that are normally found in tap water. The water is tested frequently to check that there is no bacterial contamination. We discovered that the tests for water in skincare are more stringent than for bottled drinking water!

Polyglyceryl-3 Cetyl Ether Olivate/Succinate
An emulsifier holds the oil + water formulation together. We think of it as trying to bind a salad dressing! In the manufacturing process, the ingredients are blended together very very quickly, and then it is tested to make sure it stays in perfect condition. This is one of our organic ingredients, derived from Italian olives (yum!)
Glycerin
This is a very clever naturally derived ingredient which has some amazing properties. It is classed as a 'humectant', which literally means that it grabs on to the water in the formulation and prevents it from disappearing. The magic comes from the scientific process involved in blending it with the other products. As a base ingredient it's very gloopy, but we've used exactly the right level to deliver the great benefits without the stickiness.
Cetearyl Alcohol
A complicated sounding ingredient which is actually from a natural source! A waxy ingredient which is used to thicken the formulation.
